CHD Bank was established as a public company on May 8. Initially licensed by the Central Bank of Myanmar for investment and development banking on July 12, 2013. CHID Bank was granted an Authorized Dealer (AD) License by the Central Bank on June 4, 2014, allowing it to engage in foreign exchange and international banking operations. CHD Bank was granted a commercial banking license on June 11, 2014. Later, under the 2016 Financial Institutions Law, the previous licenses were surrendered, and a new commercial banking license was issued on August 18, 2016.
In 2018, CHD Bank was renamed CHID Bank on June 17, reflecting its expanded role beyond housing. In line with Myanmar's economic policy, CHID Bank began to support broader public infrastructure projects, such as electricity, roads, and bridges, alongside the original mandate of providing housing loans.
