Student Welfare Officer

Description and Requirement

  1. Establishing policies and procedures for Student Welfare including student and parent counselling and administering the same.
  2. Being accessible to individual or groups of students for counselling and consultation in a confidential environment at regular, identified and notified times of the week including small group mediation, when necessary.
  3. Maintaining professional, confidential records of all meetings identifying student concerns and outcomes of student or parent –school conferences
  4. Researching, liaising, and where necessary, accessing for referral on student behalf any specialist professional support that may be available in the community in relation to identified student learning, educational or behavioural needs.
  5. Meeting parents and managing home-school conferencing where necessary.
  6. Assisting (when required) in establishing a fully functioning Parents-Teacher association which meets regularly and which plays a key role in promoting the home-school partnership and collaboration through meetings and events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Proven experience in student support, counseling, or welfare services, ideally within the educational industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, capable of fostering positive connections with students, parents, and staff.
  • Proficiency in English is essential.  
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft office software and emailing.
