About the opportunity

The Australia Awards in Myanmar is managed by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and is administered by Scope Global. 

Australia Awards are provided to build the skills and knowledge of individuals so that they can contribute to their country’s development, and to support the ongoing development of links between Australia and the countries to which it provides aid. The Australia Awards are an important part of the Australian Government’s focus on public and economic diplomacy, and provide long term Scholarships, Short Course Awards and other training opportunities.

·         Location: Home based, and Myanmar as required

·         Contract type: Short-term Adviser contract until 11 February 2023

Key responsibilities

The Gender Equity, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Adviser supports equity of access, inclusion and participation across the planning and implementation of all program activities in Australia Awards Myanmar, with a focus on gender equity, people with disabilities and people from ethnic minorities.

Working in partnership with the program team, with DFAT Myanmar Post and other key stakeholders (including NGOs, DPOs and CSOs) the GEDSI Adviser offers a critical equity and inclusion lens that is based on research, analysis, stakeholder engagement, and is aligned to DFAT policy frameworks and guidelines on disability inclusion and gender equity in development.

The GEDSI Adviser will maintain and enhance effective program equity strategies and approaches including mainstreamed and targeted initiatives that are tailored to specific requirements in Myanmar. There will be an emphasis on research and piloting inclusion initiatives through the program’s flexible funding mechanism.
