Job Description

The Catering or Banquet Manager is responsible for selling all Banquet activities, and as a result, is responsible for a large portion of Food and Beverage revenues. In conjunction with the Sales Department, he / she is responsible that all meeting and banquet facilities are occupied at all times. His / Her overall goal is to constantly maximize revenues.

The Hotel’s Banquet facilities should be seen as the social centre within local community. The Catering / Banquet Manager’s primary function is to sell Food and Beverage products for Conventions, Seminars, Business Meetings, and Social Gatherings to the local community. He / She should develop one of the best Banquet Operation in the Market.

The Catering/ Banquet Manager spends most of the time in selling. He / She should actively solicit new business, secure repeat business, and assist the sales Department in Room-related Banquet and Meeting business.

He/ She also functions as Convention Coordinator when necessary.

To ensure that the Catering / Banquet Manager spend most of his / her time in selling, responsibility for the smoothest of the operation lies with the Banquet Manager, who is responsible for set-ups and service of all functions. He reports directly to the Catering Manager.

It is important that there is a good communication between The Catering Sales and Banquet Service.

The Following activities describe the role of a Catering Manager;

He / She is knowledgeable in Banquet Service, Meeting Arrangements and Requirements Function Room seating Capacity, Food product knowledge as well as basic Costing.

He / She have exceptional Sales capacities and strive to continuously up sell when booking a Banquet Function.

He / She is quality orientated and is constantly incorporating new and creative ideas in Banquets.

He / She is able to compose personalized Menus which are unique for each client.
